Life was tough for my Grandmother.
Surviving on food
Grown right on the farm.
No extra plot, no surplus water
For beautiful, luxurious flowers.
Unless…
It was done in secret,
In a hidden spot,
A private splash of poppies and roses.
Long gone now,
Those years of privation.
But her secret lives on,
The flowers still bloom,
And I discovered them.
