Most days I’m in a field of weeds.
No glamour to be seen.
But then spring rolls around,
And all those weeds
Become the wildest wildflowers
You’ve ever seen.
Bluebonnets blooming everywhere.
It makes me feel like blooming too.
The other girls can tell I’m ready,
My coming-out time has come!
They put special makeup
On my nose and ears.
Purple highlights in my hair.
No need to fix my bedroom eyes,
Cause they’re perfect,
My boyfriend Roscoe always says.
Still I’m kind of nervous,
So I chew a wad of grass.
